  • What if my house doesn't have fascia board?

Mid-Atlantic Gutters & Exteriors can install a fascia board on your home to enable a K-Guard Leaf Free System to be installed.

  • Is K-Guard wind and hail resistant?

Our hood-forming machines use patented technology to add lines of texture to the hood. Combined with the support of our patented hangers, these texture lines strengthen and stabilize the hood, while also helping to mask any markings left by hail. However, like any other metal surface, severe hail will dent the hood. Even so, because our hoods are detachable from the rest of the system, replacing a damaged hood with a new one is easily done.

  • How does K-Guard perform under snowy and icy conditions?

Very well, K-Guard will withstand virtually any snow, ice or wind condition, making it a superior product for homeowners in cold weather climates.

Most people may not realize that with conventional, open-top gutter systems, ice will form on the inside, where you cannot see it. The resulting freezing and thawing literally pries your gutters off your home. With K-Guard, ice forms on the outside of the gutter, rather than inside. Plus K-Guard is stronger than both traditional gutters, and other covered gutter systems, so you can be sure that no amount of snow or ice will pull our product off of your home.

In addition, our system's rear drainage channel helps prevent wind-blown water from backing up under your roof's edge and freezing, so the potential of ice damming is far lower than with other systems.

  • Can I add a K-Guard hood to my existing gutters?

No. The K-Guard Leaf Free System was designed and engineered as a single, complete system. The custom-formed components are optimized to perform with each other, but not with other open-top gutter components.

  • Why does K-Guard have a removable hood?

K-Guard's two piece (gutter and hood) system provides a series of benefits:

Our product is far easier to install than any one piece system. The open gutter is hung first, then the hood is attached. If the hood is ever damaged by hail, ladders or tree branches, it is easily removed and replaced without having to dismantle the gutter and downspout.

In cold weather areas, the hood can be removed to facilitate a retrofit installation of heating cable to prevent icicle formation.

If a homeowner is curious to see if the gutters really work the way we say they do, they can lift up the hood and peek inside with no fancy tools needed.

  • What colors are available?

Mid-Atlantic Gutters & Exteriors offers a variety of colors that compliment your home. Ask your sales representative about the specific colors available.

  • Is the life-time no-clog, no-pulling away or no-sagging warranty offered realistic?

Yes. The K-Guard Leaf Free System is extremely effective at keeping leaves and debris out of the gutters. Our system is backed up with 3x4-inch downspouts that help flush out any small pieces of debris that may occasionally enter the gutter. And in the unlikely event that your K-Guard system ever does develop any of these problems for any reason, Mid-Atlantic Gutters & Exteriors will come to your home and remedy the problem - absolutely free, ask your sales representative about our warranties.

  • How strong is K-Guard?

Studies have been conducted to determine the overall strength of the K-Guard Leaf Free System. Here are the impressive results:

The system can support vertical loads on the form of the gutter of 35 lbs. per foot of gutter. That equals 70 lbs. per installed hanger.

The hood can support 60 lbs. per square foot of pressure, both in load and uplift, before any flexing of the hood will occur.

  • How long does K-Guard last?

There is really no limit to the life span of this system. The coatings on the gutter and hood will easily last 20 years, the base materials will not corrode, and the internal hangers (which are protected from the elements by the gutter and hood) will last almost indefinitely. Any homeowner can count on our guarantee that this product will last.

  • Roof Warranty?

K-Guard Leaf Free System never touches your roof and therefor, will never void a homeowners roof warranty.

Some of our competitors’ products have to tuck into a row of shingles, voiding your roof warranty and labor warranty. These products will inevitably cost you a lot more money once the shingles dissolve and it's time for a new roof. Many of these companies have to come back and remove and reinstall them themselves if you or your roofer does this it would void their warranties and once again cost you more money! The K-Guard Leaf Free System is the only leaf free system with a rear drainage channel, so that the water has two points of entry into the trough (gutter). The rear drainage channel prevents wind-blown rain from running up under your roof line and possibly freezing. Topper products, which again, are tucked under your shingles, will serve as an open door to this type of rain. Your shingles on your roof are flat and overlapping for a very good reason, to keep water out! Toppers will lift your shingles and over time cause roof problems!

  • How are my gutters constructed?

Mid-Atlantic Gutters & Exteriors will bring our K-Guard leaf free gutter machines to your home and carefully measure your home. We will manufacture both gutter and hood on site to ensure perfect, precisely measured seamless gutters.
